THE STUDENT PROGRAM OF
INQUIRY
All students will
address the curriculum through 6 PYP Units of Inquiry.
These make up the Program of Inquiry and cover the following
transdisciplinary themes;
1 Who We Are
2 Where we Are In Time
and Place
3 How the World Works
4 How We Express
Ourselves
5 How We Organise
Ourselves
6 How We Share the
Planet.
This program of work offers
students the opportunity to investigate and connect the
information and ideas from all areas of the curriculum in
such a way as to encourage independent, student-centered
learning.
Students can also develop a
life long respect for learning and a curiosity about their
world
Critical thinking skills are
developed and consolidated within this program as an on-going process, beginning in the Elementary school and
continuing through all levels of life.
To achieve these goals, the
students and teachers use and explore many and varied texts
and resources appropriate to the units of inquiry and the
needs of the students. At each grade level students will be
supported to achieve success in a variety of academic and
social skills and experiences as recorded in the NIS
curriculum.
