CURRICULUM OVERVIEW
Naseem International School
has developed a curriculum that is based on the
Constructivist Theory of learning. It is also outcomes based
and child-centered. It is designed and implemented by the
NIS staff to ensure specific cultural aspects are
considered and is all part of the on-going quest to provide
students at NIS with a high quality education.

It is primarily skills-based
and makes explicit the Anticipated Learning Outcomes in each
area of study. It is designed to encourage students to
become self-motivated and confident in their own abilities
and attitudes. It also encourages them to take an active
role in their own learning. They will be helped to develop
strategies, which will enable them to function independently
in the later years of study.
The PYP curriculum framework
supports our goal of encouraging our students in their
endeavor to become international citizens as described in
the Student Profile, which is central to all our teaching
and learning. This perspective identifies beliefs and values
through all curriculum areas and forms the vehicle from
which the student learning outcomes are explored.
Where possible, the students
will study using an integrated, transdisciplinary topic or
thematic approach. Aspects of whole language pervade the
learning program. Through this program students develop
self-esteem, positive attitudes, investigation skills,
knowledge and they develop an awareness of international and
global perspectives as well as becoming independent and
social learners through the use of inquiry and questioning
techniques.
We aim to provide and
inquiry-based education for students from Kindergarten to
Grade 6. They will progress to grade 7,academically prepared
with a strong sense of self worth and a respect for the
feelings and cultures of others. Students will be ready for the
academic rigors that follow and the work ethic that will be
required to achieve success during their Middle School years at Naseem. |
